Welcome to Wonderfully Vegetarian - a down-to-earth cooking experience based on my kitchen exploits.

Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. -- Albert Einstein

You must have heard "Kalyana Samayal satham" song at some point. Well, may be not quite there, but I certainly hope the posts in this blog enrich your cooking experience and lets you approach cooking with a SMILE, rather than as a chore or a rules to follow regimen. Anything Vegetarian goes, ONLY criterion: The end product MUST taste good - to those you are serving.

காபேஜ் சாதமா கொக்கா! Cabbage Rice!

Sometimes, it just so happens, for some reason or the other, things get delayed, and now you find yourself in a dilemma; there is very little time, everyone is hungry and expect dinner shortly! What to cook and how to manage a dinner? Well, here is a recipe that even husbands can cook! Yes! :-) mine did!

Cabbage Rice!

Cook rice in a separate vessel.
Cut alike 1/3 of a cabbage, some carrots and (onions for those who like), a few green chillies, and ginger. All into fine pieces. Then in a sauce pan or electric plate, just add a little bit butter or oil and toast all the vegetables. Then add the required quantity of rice and toast together, adding some salt. Top off with popped mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, asafoetida, curry leaves.

If you have cucumber/ onions/ tomatoes, cut either one or all and add salt and yoghurt. Top off with popped mustard seeds and asafoetida and coriander leaves.

Rice, raita and chips. Salad if you like. Your simple meal is ready in under 15 min!

Happy cooking.
