Welcome to Wonderfully Vegetarian - a down-to-earth cooking experience based on my kitchen exploits.

Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. -- Albert Einstein

You must have heard "Kalyana Samayal satham" song at some point. Well, may be not quite there, but I certainly hope the posts in this blog enrich your cooking experience and lets you approach cooking with a SMILE, rather than as a chore or a rules to follow regimen. Anything Vegetarian goes, ONLY criterion: The end product MUST taste good - to those you are serving.

TOFU KALANDA SATHAM - டோபு கலந்த சாதம்!

 டோபு கலந்த சாதம்!
Want to make a very healthy, tasty, mixed vegetable rice. Here comes Tofu to the rescue.
You need a block of firm tofu, green chillies, coriander leaves, tomatoes, ginger, (onion and garlic if you are used to), and lemon juice.

Cut the ingredients into small pieces, put them in a blender and grind to a paste. Take a saucepan, add olive oil and pop mustard, cumin and urad dal seeds. Now add the blended mix and let it simmer to a tick paste. Boil rice separately and cool. Now add alittle salt and asafoetida, turmeric powder to the rice. Mix. Add the tofu paste and mix well. To this add cut and sauteed vegetable sof your choice. Mix well, without making the rice into a paste.

There you have a new dish! Tofu kalanda satham. Add mango pickle, lijid papad, cucumber raita and chappati/puri. You have a complete lunch/dinner!

Happy cooking! Let me know how it turns out!
